POINTS UPDATE: Timms Closes Gap to McIntosh Before Appalachian Midget Week

LATEST RACE(S): Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 (Aug. 2-3)

CURRENT POINTS LEADER: Cannon McIntosh’s consecutive top-five streak came to end at 18 Friday night after driving from the 12th starting spot to finish sixth in the main event. However, he bounced back on Saturday, collecting his 14th podium finish of the season with a third-place run in the 35-lap Ironman finale. Despite the rebound, he lost 27 points of the lead he came into the weekend with, dropping his gap on Ryan Timms from 160 points down to 137.

Ashton Torgerson (+1): Torgerson garnered his sixth top-five of the season Friday night and advanced 10 spots in Saturday’s main event, driving from 16th on the grid to finish sixth. Combined with Chase McDermand’s struggles over the weekend, Torgerson gained enough points to pass McDermand for third in the standings.

Chase McDermand (-1): After mechanical issues hindered McDermand in Qualifying on Friday, he rebounded in Saturday’s main event, driving from 23rd on the starting grid up 15 spots to finish eighth. However, his 18th-place finish Friday dropped him out of third and into fourth place in the points standings.
