CURRENT POINTS LEADER: Cannon McIntosh once again expanded his lead in the championship standings with his fourth Feature win of the season Thursday night at Doe Run Raceway. In doing so, the Oklahoma racer stacked his points gap over teammate Ryan Timms to 154 points – his largest lead thus far. McIntosh then went on to record his 14th-straight top-five finish Friday at Coles County with a fifth-place result while Timms finished second, which trimmed the gap back down to 145.
GAP-CLOSERS
Trevor Cline (+26 points): In collecting his sixth-straight top-10 finish over the weekend, Cline gained 26 points on sixth-place Hayden Reinbold in the championship standings. The 16-year-old from Mooresville, NC, started the weekend Thursday at Doe Run by setting a new track record and garnering his first career Whitz Racing Products Quick Time Award. He followed that up with his first career podium on a national Midget series with a third-place finish in the Feature and capped the weekend with a 10th-place result in the main event Friday at Coles County.
Tyler Edwards (+15 points): Edwards, of Salina, OK, shaved his 26-point gap to ninth-place Kale Drake down to only nine points over the weekend. Edwards first brought-in a seventh-place run at Doe Run while Drake finished eighth, then backed it up with a 13th-place finish at Coles County while Drake struggled back in 16th place.
