Curious which drivers you should keep an eye on at each Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series presented by Toyota event? Series Announcer Rob Klepper will bring you his five drivers to keep an eye on each race weekend.
This week: World of Outlaws St. Louis Firecracker Faceoff at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park, June 20-21
KLEPPER’S FIVE:
Kameron Key
Why: First… I like spelling Kameron with a “K,” that’s cool. Sounds the same, which makes my job easier. Second… dude has been fun to watch so far in his rookie season with Xtreme. Right out of the gate BOOM, finished second to “The Shark” at Farmer City. Round three, he ran fourth at Humboldt and Night 1 of King of Coles back on the box in third. That’s two podiums, three top fives and five top 10s to start the year, currently fifth in Series points. Now, he’s only run in Pevely, MO twice, a 13th & 10th with POWRi in 2021, BUT during his career he’s won in Micros, Midgets AND Sprint Cars… that’s the real Trifecta.
Tyler Edwards
Why: I may announce him as Tyler Edwards from Salina, OK… but on the street, he’s known simply as “Teddy.” 2025 marks his sophomore season with the Xtreme Midgets, driving for Jay Mounce. Last year, he finished ninth in points with seven top-10 finishes, including an eighth-place run in Pevely. This year he’s already posted three top 10s and TWO… count’em TWO Summit Racing Equipment Hard Charger Awards. Now… last year, he posted a top five at Atomic. That’s a bigger-sized Midget track. I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park is also a bigger-sized Midget track. Makes you think that if Edwards can put together a good Smith TI Qualifying run together… we might just see this “Sooner State” driver impress in the “Show-Me State.”
Colton Robinson
Why: Currently eighth in Xtreme points, making his first appearance at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park, is this 15-year-old Floridian. He made his presence felt early in the season with four-straight top 10s and most recently his first career Xtreme top five with a fourth-place run at Coles County. Darn Skippy! Only six drivers have won more than one Heat Race this year, INCLUDING this kid. Robinson has been impressive to watch this year and yes… I do expect him to put one together and end up on the podium before the year is out.
Shannon McQueen
Why: While she is not (to my knowledge) related to “Lightning McQueen,” Shannon has been fast her whole life. In her 20-plus years in the sport she has won races with USAC and RMMRA . She’s won championships with USAC and BCRA. She’s raced four of the seven Xtreme events at I-55 with her best finish of eighth coming last year. This year, she posted back-to-back 13th-place finishes at Humboldt and 81, but told me (not really) that “a baker’s dozen is no bueno… I’m a CPA.” #KaChow
Karter Sarff
Why: I just gotta do it. I mean… I know he was one of my “five to watch” leading into the King of Coles weekend BUT… I mean c’mon… this dude swept both nights last year at I-55. BOTH. Night one he led all 25 laps to beat Ryan Timms to the line and night two led 14 laps and again beat Ryan Timms to the line. People… RYAN TIMMS WON’T BE THERE. Oh… did we forget that Sarff won night one at Coles County for career Xtreme win No. 8, now tied with Chase McDermand and Zach Daum for second all time? I didn’t. “The Shark” will be in Pevely, MO as I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park is HIS Amity Island.
You can follow these drivers and more all weekend at I-55, June 20-21, by getting your tickets in advance online or at the gate.
If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch every lap live – with Rob Klepper – on DIRTVision.
UP NEXT: Xtreme Outlaw Midwest Vintage Sprint Car Nationals at Spoon River Speedway, July 18-19
