LATEST RACE(S): Jacksonville Speedway (Oct. 4–5)

POINTS CHAMPION: Cannon McIntosh clinched his first career national Midget series championship Friday night, despite a 13th-place result after a late-race incident sent him to the rear on Friday, and a runner-up finish on Saturday. The Oklahoma native amassed a final points gap of 156 over Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports (KKM) teammate Ryan Timms.

FULL-TIMERS:

2. Ryan Timms (–156): Despite leading 22 laps of Friday’s main event, Timms’ collision with KKM teammate Gavin Miller in the final corner sent him crashing into the infield jersey barrier, leaving him with a 15th-place result. Though he climbed from 12th up to a sixth-place finish on Saturday, he was unable to make up his points gap to McIntosh, and instead settled into second place in the final championship standings.

3. Chase McDermand (–363): After dropping to fourth place in the championship standings following the
two-day weekend at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in August, McDermand bounced back at Jacksonville with a runner-up finish on Friday and a third-place run Saturday. Those two finishes combined to push him past Ashton Torgerson in the points standings, back into third place.

4. Ashton Torgerson (–415): Despite advancing a total of 14 spots of position in both main events at Jacksonville, Torgerson did not have a top-five finish over the weekend and dropped back into fourth place in the final points standings.

5. Zach Daum (–489): Daum and Trifecta Motorsports garnered their second Feature win of the season Friday night, but experienced mechanical issues early in Saturday’s program. They were able to remedy the malfunction before the main event, and Daum climbed from 19th on the starting grid to finish ninth, cementing him in fifth place in the final points standings.

6. Hayden Reinbold (–597): A sixth-place run on Friday followed by a seventh-place effort in Saturday’s main event was a strong cap to Reinbold’s second full-time season aboard the Xtreme Outlaw Series.

7. Trevor Cline (–957): Cline capped his rookie season in the national Midget ranks with a 10th-place finish Friday before dropping 10 spots in the main event Saturday to finish 16th.

9. Tyler Edwards (–1128): Edwards also completed his rookie season with Mounce/Stout Motorsports over the weekend, bagging his seventh top-10 of the season Friday night with a ninth-place run. However, he dropped out of Saturday’s main event early, scored 21st in the finishing order.

12. Jayden Clay (–1857): Clay did not compete in either Midget main event after a crash in his Micro Sprint Friday night sidelined him for the rest of the weekend. Still, he experienced a solid first season at the controls of a Midget on the Mounce/Stout team, gaining plenty of experience with the higher speeds of a Midget.
