Taking the lead half-way through the feature, Jacob Perry scored his first win with the Xtreme Dirt Midget Association at Friday Night’s Dirt Duels presented by Sig Sauer Academy at New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s Flat Track.
Brandon Piastka and Jacob Perry led the field to the green flag with Piastka jumping out into the lead. A caution flag flew on lap one as Will Hull and Matt Tanner bumped in turn three, sending Tanner sideways and collecting Justin Phillips, Keith Brown, and John Egan.
Tanner was able to continue without stopping but both Brown and Phillips’s were done for the night. Piastka again took the lead on the restart as Perry, Tanner and John Forlano raced for second through fourth. Perry began to pull away in second and close the gap on Piastka. With Piastka using the inside groove, Perry found grip in the middle of the track and made an outside move on the leader going into turn one on lap ten. The car stuck and Perry made the pass for the lead.
Behind the front two, Chris Murray was also making a run using a higher line methodically picking off cars to take over third from Forlano with ten laps to go. Perry ran un-challenged for the rest of the race as he maintained a comfortable lead over Piastka and Murray. Perry took the win followed by Piastka and Murray. Tanner took fourth from Forlano with two laps remaining.
Brandon Piastka won the first heat over Ray Miller Racing teammates John Forlano and Justin Phillips; The second heat was won by Matt Tanner over Jacob Perry and Will Hull.
